The fabric is from the skirt called 'Rode rok' which was worn by women from the Dutch fishing village Volendam in the Netherlands. It is woven in traditional colours and there are little blue pompoms along the sides. The little blue pompoms reflect the pompoms they used on the winter head covers called 'Kapers'.
