Today it forms part of the collection of the Swedish Museum of National Antiquities. Helmets such as these were worn by the Germanic tribes, amongst them the Anglo Saxons, and later by the Vikings. The helmet is a predecessor of the famous 10th century Gjermundbu helmet, which was found in a Viking grave in Norway. The helmet is equipped with an inlay
